Day 284 - A Year to Clear - Let. It. Go.

Lesson 284: Let. It. Go.

Today we are to breathe in the words “Let. It. Go” and how this can have so much impact to our day and clearing practise. Think about something you can let go right now. It can be an item or thought. Just “Let. It. Go”.

As I breathed into these words, I realised that I was holding anger for my building manager. I have some water damage that isn’t going to fix itself. It was a week ago when I asked to have an inspection, the building manager said she would get it organised and I had heard nothing since. I rang the building maintenance company to confirm if they had received a request and there was nothing. I rang the body corporate to speak with her and left a message. I sent an email to follow up also. It’s a constant follow up and I don’t know when I’m going to get a response. Considering I want to eventually move out, I would love to get this rolling so I can sell and move to a place I feel more comfortable in.

I released my anger towards this situation. I told myself it will get fixed. I told myself that it will work out. And, if it takes time, all I’ve got to do is continually follow up. I have put it out into the world, so all that can happen is for it to move forward.

What is one thing you let go of today? I realise that my issue is such first world problems, but it was the immediate angry thought I had just before this post and there’s no need for it! It is such a first world problem!

Day 206 - A Year to Clear - Shift Happens

Lesson 206: Shift Happens

Today’s lesson is about knows that shifts can happen if you let them. Yes, you might have had the world fall apart and it seems like there is no way out, but if you change your worried thoughts into that of strength, it clear the blockages for a solution to come about. I think the main point is that you can’t change what’s already happened. What you can change is your mindset in working towards a better outcome from whatever disruption had come about in your life.

For me personally, the current shake up is work life and although it’s a major pain in my ass, it’s not really bogging me down with worry. Sure, it’s frustrating to not have any structure and direction, but that’s something I cannot control. What I am doing is trying to look at upskilling options and other jobs, because if I reassess my skills, there are some things that I can work on.

The only other worry that I had that really shook me with worry was when my light fixture was leaking water due to a flooding on an upper level. I was worried about it sparking and starting a fire which seems ridiculous as I type it out now. I worried about it at work all day and couldn’t wait to get home to ensure that my apartment wasn’t alight. I don’t even know if water can cause electrical outlets and fixtures to start sparking which leads to a fire. This was just the worry I had in my head. The way I shifted my thought process was just to tell myself, that it will dry, and once it’s dry, it shouldn’t spark and catch on fire (though I imagine any electricals could do this at any point really). Once I rung that through my head, it wasn’t a stress anymore.

As I go through this lesson, it’s almost like a speech you give yourself to talk yourself out of a bad situation. If you can find the positive and tell that to yourself, and maybe you might have some action plan to go with it, then you’ll overcome whatever is bothering you. Some issues obviously last longer than others, but if you stick to a plan that embraces clearing those negative thoughts out, it will eventually allow yourself to be open for positive outcomes.

Day 185 - A Year to Clear - It Takes Courage to Let Go

Lesson 185: It Takes Courage to Let Go

We all have courage inside of us. I think when we’re ready, we use it in ways we didn’t image possible. I don’t think courage has to be some grand gesture. I think it’s even the small steps you take to actively want to be and do better for yourself. In this clearing journey, the courage I’ve had to summon to face my deepest, darkest truths have built some character within me. It’s actually been the most confronting thing I’ve ever done in my life – go to the deepest parts of my subconscious and come to some realisations that I didn’t really know until I faced them. It’s really a journey as well. I think that’s courage.

Other things I’ve done this year where I’ve shown courage is to discover my spiritual side and what they really entails. Just going into the unknown and trusting some higher power, not really knowing if it’s right for me and just going with the flow of it. That takes courage. It really opened doors to mentors and friends. Very grateful with how I’ve grown since the day I decided to follow what the Universe had for me.

I have a more open voice at work and try not to let people just take over the decision making. That took courage from me because I don’t usually like conflict, but I feel like if you don’t speak up, then you can be disadvantaged as well as taken advantage of. I think being able to be bold and assertive can go a long way. I’ve grown in the work place and have a voice.

I think deciding to experience new things takes courage. I think sometimes I’ve just had to go out on my own to experience. I have learned that relying on others isn’t always the best way to go. Sometimes if you really want to do something, just go for it and don’t wait to be accompanied. It pushes your comfort zone but that’s the beauty of life. Sometimes we need to push ourselves and just be brave!

I think courage is about doing away with self-doubt and fear. The things I’ve written are about overcoming these things. And in overcoming those feelings and emotions, I’m truly letting go of what was holding me back. When we’ve let go, we’re clear.

Day 164 - A Year to Clear - Low-Frequency Veils

Lesson 164: Low-Frequency Veils

The way people act towards you can sometimes be a projection of their “low-frequency veil” of pain and feeling stuck. We all hold onto things whether we care to admit it or not. We also do not know what story another person holds and this is where practising compassion can go a long way. But practising compassion can be easier said than done when our instant reaction to someone’s frustrations and pain is anger, getting upset or even frustration ourselves. It does take some practise. Today’s lesson is about recognising one thing that you’ve been holding onto and asking yourself “What would it take to let it go?”.

For me, I don’t hold onto any pain any longer and that’s freeing for me. I am trying to move forward to live the best version of me. What I do hold onto is my own self-doubt. That I might fail in the path that I choose and I won’t succeed in it. I also self-doubt my own skills. I have a bit of a perfectionist complex with getting things right as well, so that actually doesn’t help as I’m learning and growing in my skills. I am self-critical and don’t see any reason to fail, though just like everyone else, I make mistakes too. I think I just need more belief in myself and don’t be too hard on myself at the same time. I will succeed with hard work and determination. I just need to keep reminding myself of this. I think this is what it takes to let it go. Keep telling myself in the mirror that I’ve got this and I just got to keep learning and growing.

What did you find today that you want to let go of?

Lesson 116: Liquid Memory Aid

Have a moment to reflect as you’re observing a tap running with water going into the drain. Whether it’s your sink, shower, laundry… just remember to “Stop. Breathe. Let go.”

I highly recommend that this be practised every day. I don’t believe it’s an instant fix but one that progresses with time. I always believe that taking some time to just breathe is so helpful in distressing. This just includes water in the exercise because we learned about fluidity last week and our worries, clutter, life should be a fluid turn of events with a natural flow. When you do start getting overwhelmed or bogged down, just stop to take some deep breaths, think of how fluid things can be and go from there. We can let go with practise.
