Day 225 - A Year to Clear - Self Less vs. Self More

Lesson 225: Self Less vs. Self More

To those for whom compassion conveys an ideal of selflessness — the altruistic quality that we all aspire to (and brings up all of our inadequacies when we haven’t lived up to the level of perfection that it implies) — allow me to clarify: the focus [here] is on the concept of “self-more-ness”: as in self-love, self-worth, self-acceptance. It means...giving yourself massive amounts of slack; allowing yourself to disappoint and be disappointed; having it be okay to mess up and fail; setting clear boundaries. —Your Spacious Self
— Stephanie Bennett Vogt

New week equals a new theme of “Nourishing Mind and Spirit”. To me it’s all about continuing the trail of self-care. All the thoughts and actions we take have an effect back towards our inner self. We need self-care in order to feel nourished within. The more we focus on self, the more we allow ourselves to place our needs first, we have more compassion towards self and start to implement loving routine for our self.

I personally feel the more we place our needs to the forefront and be able to manage our inner work, the more we will be able to help others. In my opinion, the more we are able to self-care, it allows us to be at our best to assist others. I feel like you aren’t good to anyone else unless you have worked through your challenges. Working through your challenges is part of your own self-care. This is in my opinion what allows your mind and spirit to be clear.

Lesson 106: One Way to Find Compassion For Yourself...

This is probably one of the lessons that I really feel connected to. Today is about finding compassion for yourself when you haven’t been able to before. The one way you can achieve this is to go into nature because regardless of your faults and woes, nature is non-judgemental and accepts you as you are. Nature loves you and can heal you and you don’t have to view yourself as worthy or not, it will do it for you. Today we are to write about nature and if it willing to hold energy for us, what does it say about yourself.

To me, I always feel refreshed in nature, like something is stripping away every problem off your shoulders and creating a lighter version of yourself. No worries exist in nature – it’s just you and nature connecting and reaching a calm, peaceful state. If nature is there to heal, regardless of your past, it tells me that being open towards everyone and anything is possible. That if you hold no judgement for yourself and others, then compassion can occur. Nature exerts a state we all wish to be – free, serene, tranquil, composed, comforting. But why can’t we just apply this to ourselves always? There is nothing to suggest why we can’t get to this state, and that means we can hold compassion for ourselves. Think of nature and just be…

Lesson 105: Check In WEEK 15 - Raising the Frequency

This week has all about releasing, building and understanding simple truths.

I especially needed a reminder that what we put out in the world is what we attract. If we’re always in a negative mindset, then that’s what we are always going to see – the bad in things, the bad in people, get angry at little things. This week has taught me that we can always take small steps to raise our vibration into positive environments. Just imagining yourself as the best version you want to be, noting the attributes to that and working towards it, really sets things into motion. We can be whatever we want to if we work hard for it.

There was talk about worthiness. I think the list I made of all the things I see the best version of myself integrates worthiness. I think if I know all these positive things I want to be and work towards it, then I become worthy of that. I believe the message from the lesson is that we’re always worthy, but I disagree. I think nothing comes from nothing but something comes out of hard work. You can’t sit around lazy taking no action and deem yourself as worthy of something. That’s just my opinion anyway. I think it will work out if I remain consistent in my efforts.

Day 104 - A Year of Spiritual Awakening - This Idea of Unworthiness

Lesson 104: This Idea of Unworthiness...

This idea of unworthiness, of sin, of being unsalvageable—it’s not true! You took on this idea, when you first were hurt, wounded, experienced pain. But it’s a misbelief. You don’t need it. This idea isn’t correct!
— Sara Wiseman

Today we are to write down all the “rotten” things about ourselves. We are to read it and recognise that we are just like anyone else – there is nothing more wrong or right about you to the next person. We are all imperfectly perfect. It’s time to acknowledge that we are very much the same in this way. We all have good and bad aspects and go through the same emotions and feelings. Our experiences in situations are not the same but we definitely can say we know of anger, pain, hurt, love, happiness, joy….

My list consists of:

·         I am messy

·         I don’t like my body sometimes

·         I don’t eat well enough

·         I can be lazy

·         I need more focus and motivation

·         I should be doing more for myself

That’s my immediate thoughts of things I recognise I do consistently. I guess the point is, I share these same thoughts with many people… and that’s okay! These are attributes I am trying to work on and I actively seek out to eradicate the bad thoughts and take action of those that I lack. I don’t necessarily see myself as “rotten”. I just think it’s a step by step process, always getting closer to the best version of me.

Day 104 - A Year to Clear - What Would You Do?

Lesson 104: What Would You Do?

We are posed with a simple question today “What would you do if you felt 100 percent worthy?”. Contemplate and write about your experience.

For me, it’s still something I work on – that I am worthy of whatever I want as long as I work for it. I do not think that I am in anyway entitled to anything nor do I like to use the term “I deserve it”. Personally, I struggle with those thoughts that put myself down which I believe many people do. Thoughts such as “why would anyone be interested in me, the way I look right now” “why isn’t anything going my way” “why doesn’t anything good happen to me” – they are very much limiting thoughts. I am self-aware of those thoughts and I actively work in changing my mindset. I am around people that teach me a better way. to get up in the morning and look yourself in the mirror and say positive things such as “I am beautiful” “I look good today” “My outfit looks great” and you keep repeating positive affirmations until you actually start to believe it. It’s when you start to believe it that others will too.

I think when you work on yourself, then the thought of worth would naturally come into play. It’s not that you aren’t worthy now; it’s that your mindset has to catch up. I know I am worthy of so much, though it’s about having the thought processes that accompany it and I know I will get there.
