Wow... It's really been some time
/To anyone out there reading this, thank you for continuing to visit my blog.
I live in Victoria, Australia. We went through one of the toughest lockdowns due to Covid-19 last year. We were on lockdown for 4 months straight. There was a point where we felt like prisoners - only being able to go out for 1 hour a day! A lot of people in other states didn’t know about this. It wasn’t even reported on! One of my best mates in LA was flabbergasted that we had such strict lockdowns. The only reasons we could leave the home was to go grocery shopping, go to the doctor or health professional, go to exercise or go to work.
It was one of the toughest moments in my life, though it severely impacted so many lives here in Melbourne. Not only were businesses shut down, people losing their jobs, but there were people actually taking their lives and none of that was reported on. We had to find this information our from local members of parliament (MP) and if you didn’t follow any of them, you wouldn’t know of this news. The most devastating story that can from a local MP was that struggling parents of a business chain were severely getting into debt, they found no options to get out of this, so they dropped their children off at their grandparents (which was to be their final goodbye) and went away to commit suicide. One of my friends told me how he’s lost 3 high school friends during covid lockdowns. This to me is the real impact that no one has been talking about. It’s a sad time and I wish no one else would suffer.
We recently had to have a lockdown due to new cases. We’ve never seen thousands of cases daily. We have managed to curb it to the hundreds per day. Every time we have a few cases, a new short lockdown is imposed in my state. I never want to go through a 3-4 month lockdown ever again. I don’t wish it upon anyone. I can manage with these short circuit breakers - that’s what we call them.
Anyway, on a positive note, I’ve managed to do a few things to improve my mental and physical wellbeing. I put on a lot of weight during lockdown. over 20kg. I stopped weighing myself as it was depressing. I have lost approx 15 kg of that weight, so I am happy. I’ve turned to more plant based eating. Making sure I take the right supplements, minerals and vitamins have made such a difference in my life. I am getting regular check ups with the doctor, so that allowed me to see what i’m deficient in… It’s vitamin D as we don’t get enough sunlight in Melbourne. All these changes have made me mentally stronger and physically, I feel great. I want to start sharing what I’ve learned along the way and hope that it helps anyone out there
